Candy Land has been a classic childhood board game almost from it’s inception more than 55 years ago by it’s inventor Ms. Eleanor Abbott. Over the years, this much loved childhood staple has had some minor changes but one thing has stayed the same, kids everywhere love Candy Land. Social Psychologist Susan Neuman, Ph. D. says “In addition to all the fun it brings, game play can teach basic skills such as color recognition, taking turns, sharing and patience, as well as open a child’s imagination and instill confidence.” I agree with this wholeheartedly and would like to add that it also is a great way to institute family game night with children of a younger age, 3 and up.

Ragnarok

Everyday millions of people log onto a simple game called Ragnarok Online. This game looks like an adults version of a kids game. It has an overlay of 3d with all the characters made 2d. I am going to give you three reasons to play.

Reason 1: Variety

This game has some of the most variety game wise and player wise. There are many classes, each upgradable and after you reach level 99 you can transcend unto an even greater class. There are hundreds upon hundreds of items you can have to customize your character and become the ultimate warrior, thief, mage, ect. The player base is also huge as well. Many kids like to be part of the game. thats why I fixed up tic tac toe. It is basically I giant vynle mat with the tic tac toe board on it, and there are 5 Giant x’s and 5 Giant o’s. What you do is divide the kids up into two teams. the x’s amd o’s. Line them up and when it is the kids turn hand them a x or o and let them move to the spot they want. Having a prize will make it more fun. If a kid doesnt like a game. he will like the prize and have more fun at the party.

Kids love karaoke.

When we were kids, our parents and teachers used to say, “Any kid can grow up to be the American President.”

Today, they say, “Anyone can grow up to be American Idol.”

I wish they’d had at-home karaoke machines when I was a kid. Maybe I would have overcome my overwhelming dread of singing a solo. Seriously, I don’t even sing in the shower, if anyone else is home.

A family can own a karaoke machine for less than a hundred bucks, not counting the extra music CDs. PlayStation and other videogame platforms offer karaoke games too. (Some of these even offer performance critiques, kind of like an electronic Simon Cowell.)
